How Our C.S.A. Program Works

CSA shares have become a popular way to buy local, seasonal food, directly from a farmer. Here’s how it works:

  1. Invest in sustainable farming by paying for your share at the beginning of the growing season.
  2. Receive an allotment of fresh produce each week.
  3. Promote healthy cooking and living to your family.

Our CSA share will range in weight, based on the produce that’s fresh and ready to go. We estimate lighter week shares to weigh 5-10 lbs. and heavier week shares to weigh 10-20 lbs. Lettuce weighs less than potatoes, which weigh more than peppers. We need this flexibility to strike a fair balance from week to week. Check out the image gallery on the right to see what your share might look like.

Our convenient location makes it easy for residents of both Johnson and Linn counties to enjoy fresh produce all summer long. Pick up is available at our farm, between Solon and Mount Vernon on Highway 1, and also in Coralville. This allows us to serve families in both the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City areas.

To sign up, complete our online order form or download the brochure below. Fill it out and mail it in, with your payment, to the farm. We’ll send a confirmation email to finalize the membership, including the specific dates and times for pick ups. Kroul Farms is ready to help your family stay healthy in the coming year!
