Update & Last Call: Kroul Farms CSA Registrations

Thanks to all of you that have signed up for our 2014 CSA program! We look forward to developing relationships with all of you. We will stop taking applications after March 31, 2014, so remind your friends and family that there are only a few weeks left to sign up (form available in the “CSA” tab above). This gives us sufficient time to properly plan our gardens for harvest. Members will receive confirmation emails in early April to finalize all planning for our first share on June 5th.

After considering the registrations we have already received, we’ve chosen two additional drop-of locations. At this time there are not enough shares located in Cedar Rapids to warrant a third outside drop off location.  We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.

- Kroul Farms, Fridays from 12:00 P.M.- 6:00 PM

- Mount Vernon Farmers Market, Thursdays from 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. (at our location)

- Performance Fitness in Coralville, Fridays from 4:30 P.M.- 6:00 P.M.

Our goal is to develop our own “food community” through this blog. We will post some of our favorite recipes, as well as updates throughout the growing season about how the garden is looking. We also want you to be able to interact with each other by sharing recipes, food prep. suggestions, and ways to maximize each share. Every Wednesday during our 17-week season, we will list the produce for the following week’s share. Our goal is to give you the time to prepare your meals and make sure you have the right ingredients on hand.

First update- our germination table has been doing its job for a couple of weeks now.  A few of the vegetables we’ve started are:  kale, cabbage, lettuce, bell peppers, hot peppers, kohlrabi, spinach, brussel sprouts, and herbs.  More are being planted daily to make sure we are ready to go when the weather allows us to plant in our gardens.

We’re excited to meet all of you this summer and don’t forget to encourage your friends and family members to join our “food community.”  Please check back periodically for updates and check out what other questions or insights your fellow shareholders might have. If you have any questions at all, please let us know via the comments section below, Facebook, or email (info@kroulfarms.com).

Sincerely,

Kroul Farms

P.S. Bring on the Spring weather!
