Replace Your Summer Plants with Fall Florals and Decor

Fall means gorgeous colors, warm days, cozy nights, great food and football. Is it possible not to love this season? Get in the mood at home with some fresh, fall decorations!

Whether you’re looking to create a front door masterpiece, porch ensemble or table centerpiece, we’ve provided a few ideas. Your first step is to head to Kroul Farms for corn stalks, mums, straw bales and pumpkins and gourds!

Use Color and Texture

Fall is synonymous with abundant harvest and big splashes of color across the landscape as nature prepares for winter. Get rid of the manicured looks and stringent color schemes you may have had for spring and summer. Don’t be afraid to add a variety of colors, shapes and textures with vibrant mums, papery leaves and corn stalks, thick straw bales and big or small pumpkins and gourds.

Add Height

A variety of sizes adds dimension and draws the eye to each part of your piece. Consider the location. If your front porch has multiple steps, use them to your advantage! If you’re working on one level, use a straw bale to add height. Prop corn stalks between flowers or even fanning out of the middle of a flower pot. If you’re creating a table or coffee table centerpiece, put leaves down as a base and add a few small or medium-sized pumpkins and gourds.

Mix Seasons

Don’t let your summer plants wither in their pots as the sun darkens and weather cools. However, you don’t have to get rid of them completely! If you’ve had one of our custom planters throughout the spring and summer, leave the trailing ivy or other draping greenery and replace the summery flowers with hardy mums. Or set fall décor near your house plants for a seasonal transition.

Get Crafty

One of the best fall activities — besides visiting our pumpkin patch — is carving your pumpkin. Try stacking two carved pumpkins to make a little statue. If carving is too messy for you, try painting them!

Go Monochromatic

If you’re looking for a polished look, use different shades of the same color to create your fall decorations. Assemble some deep red mums, crimson leaves and maybe even a few apples. You could also use white or gray miniature pumpkins, mums, corn stalks and tan leaves.
